Project Overview
PGP is a point cloud to as-built model project for an industrial process facility in Peru. The supplied point cloud was used as the main reference for developing a coordinated digital representation of the existing plant. The project involved modelling visible piping systems, equipment, structural components and supporting facility elements using AutoCAD Plant 3D and Autodesk Revit. The completed model supports as-built documentation, design review, facility planning and future modifications. Detailed as-built drawings were also generated from the coordinated 3D model.
The Challenges
- Interpreting dense point cloud data from a complex industrial facility.
- Identifying piping, equipment and structural elements in congested areas.
- Managing incomplete, obstructed or noisy scan information.
- Maintaining correct scale, alignment and spatial relationships throughout the model.
- Coordinating different plant and MEP components within a single digital environment.
- Converting the existing site condition into organized and editable model elements.
- Producing clear as-built drawings from a highly detailed industrial model.
